From mountains high to oceans low, I travel where no man go, To seek the riches far below, A sunder come axe in tow....
To caverns deep and trenches wide, No treasure shall their ever hide, This mirth that it will provide, Of all the riches I decide....
Another five hundred miles to go, before this blade can finally slow, Another five hundred miles to go, Before this blade can finally slow...
Den'ah Den'ah Den'ah Den'ah Rae Den'ah Den'ah Den'ah Den'ah Rae Den'ah Den'ah Den'ah Den'ah Rae Ad'ark Du'rae!
(Home ho, home ho, home ho, home ho, today Home ho, home ho, home ho, home ho, today Home ho, home ho, home ho, home ho, today Good fortune for today!
Though my bones ache like stone, Many miles shall I still drone, For every chisel I shall atone, Until callus grows over ever bone.....
Light the way oil so dim, 'Til nothings left but darkness grim, Yet the pickings might be slim, I will still sing this hymen...
Den'ah Den'ah Den'ah Den'ah Rae Den'ah Den'ah Den'ah Den'ah Rae Den'ah Den'ah Den'ah Den'ah Rae Ad'ark Du'rae!
(Home ho, home ho, home ho, home ho, today Home ho, home ho, home ho, home ho, today Home ho, home ho, home ho, home ho, today Good fortune for today!
Den'ah Den'ah Den'ah Den'ah Rae Den'ah Den'ah Den'ah Den'ah Rae Den'ah Den'ah Den'ah Den'ah Rae Ad'ark Du'rae!
(Home ho, home ho, home ho, home ho, today Home ho, home ho, home ho, home ho, today Home ho, home ho, home ho, home ho, today Good fortune for today!
That was the song Azlynn sang as he walk the rest of the way to the gates of Demadril, the dwarven city in the deep mountains. Of course it was cold up as high as he was and granted he didn't have to be there. But out of pure interest, and of course curiosity, Azlynn found himself traveling the rest of the cold journey by foot. Shamara, his lovely blue dragon, was flying well overhead looking for the Gates themselves for him. It was too cold for him to be on her back. So he traveled by foot, the cold wind nipping at his face. It wasn't winter, but the mountains usually stayed cold year round. Carefully he pulled a piece of bread out of his pocket and nibbled on it as he was still humming the song over again. It had been a peaceful journey so far. A long one, but peaceful none the less. However, he wasn't out here just for some random reason or adventure, though he wouldn't of minded if it had been. He was there because he was heading to Demadril to visit an old friend. It wasn't common place for an elf to visit a dar'vin of the underground, but this eladriel was up for the challenge.
Finally though that same day he did reach to gates to the underground. He and Shamara knew the gate by the two large pillars of stone that stood on either side of an archway that said "If ye be friend enter" on it. The door itself though, was a huge rock face. Of course what Azlynn was about to do next seemed a tad outragous, but there was no other way in. So he stood in front of the stone and stared at it for a moment thinking to himself at how to get the attention of dwarves that lived miles underground. He found the thought that came up illogical to do, but knowing a dwarf, nothing was ever logic driven. So finally he stood back and began to speak loudly at the rock face.
"Hello! I am friend!" he began. "I seek refuge from the cold! My name is Azlynn Kalderi of the Illuminari! Please I seek your mercy!"

Under the cold surface where the fires heated the city and kept it warm for underground was where the warmth went when it left the surface and then some. As a young-looking dwarf was carving something out of a piece of wood in which he had saved from becoming firewood for there was something captured in its depths, with his trusty dagger for carving he was attempting to make it so, even though he could of pulled the energy and made it go faster he loved to do the actual work.
that was until he heard a familiar voice in a melodious voice wanting entrance to the cavern as he had set up in one of the upper caverns to the surface he was one of the closest to hear a visitor wanting out of the cold which was how the mountains were always and didn't seem to phase his race for the elements as easy as the other races except for that of the dragons. However he only had to give the order for even though he was the closest it was usually the guards duty to see of who is worthy of their sanctuary and humble abode.
Still he worked on his masterpiece he heard the sounds of the doors opening and the rock splitting for the guards knew this one for he had been welcomed once before when this dwarf had returned with this particular elf. A grin spread over his face as he knew that it wouldn't be taht difficult for once you got the trust and friendship of a dwarf it wasn't easy to shunt them away and so he set the piece of wood in a secret hold in his jacket in standing up ready to welcome his old friend and his bonded dragon.

Shamara, it is alright to come down now, they are going to let us in!, he mused mentally to her. A smile played across the elf's face as he watched the stone turn into a large set of doors and open wide with a earth rumbling creak. That was dwarven magic for you. If there was anything that was so inventive in the world by the short peoples it was using their noggins to hide their tunnels from trespassers. He waited until they were open enough, and the rumbling stopped to walk inside. As soon as he started his way in, his dragon fallowed with a great thud and a folding of wings. She too followed suit behind him. The cavern was tall enough for her to even pass through without troubles. Inside though, it was musty and dark, the only light was cast by torches and lanterns all along the walls and ceiling. Azlynn's cloak billowed as the wing entered while the doors were closing, thrusting him into darkness. His elvish eyes having to quickly adjust to the dim light of the underground. It didn't take long though for him to get acquainted with the light source.
Ack, it smells like dwarf, Shamara said mentally with a short burst of air from her nostrils, she was not about to say something rude in the halls of the dwarves.
Shamara!, he stated back to her with a chuckle. That is not nice.
Well it does..., she cooed poutingly.
You'll get used to it again, he smiled patting her on the shoulder flank and then he saw his old friend coming towards him. "Oak my friend! Anon, anon! How have you been?!"
Azlynn went a gripped the dwarfs bracer on his right arm and pulled him into a quick hung. However, knowing dwarves, they could pack quite a punch, even when hugging. Azlynn braced himself for a wallup of a hug, but this time as the dwarf returned the hug, it had been a tad lighter than before. Apparently the dwarf had remembered how fragile other creatures outside itself were. Olrich had called him a dainty flower the last time the two of them were together. Of course he tried to prove the dwarf wrong, but to steer a dwarf to budge from its thoughts was like trying to move a boulder, it just wasn't going to happen. So since then they both vowed to keep that as a funny joke between the both of them. The dainty flower that worked with the boulder brain. Either way Azlynn was glad to see his friend.
Shamara was too, but not as much as Azlynn was. She stood more aback to let the elf greet his friend properly. The one good thing that Shamara knew that dwarves could do, was that they could make the strongest and best mead in all the realm. That was what she was looking forward to. That and being pampered with gems and being scrubbed down like a goddess. Then she would relax and enjoy the dwarven company more. Until then she was a bit more pretense than her rider mate. Until they'd move from the caverns entrance she would entertain herself by watching the fire sprites dancing in the flames on the torches. Although she was born to breath and wield ice, she was always attracted to her opposing element of fire.

Trudging forward he finally arrived at his friend's side as he was welcomed by Az when they embraced in friendly kindness was about to give his usual brute strength of a hug when he remember about him being like that of a flower and so he gave a lightweighted one as it seemed that when they parted he gave a hearty smile for he was just remembered of the joke in which they shared as he said in kind return, "Anon ik'alra da'rok shirk!" (Hello I trust the rock is firm in yourself!")
He and Azzie went out of the embrace he saw the other one of his friends which he wasn't kind to ride upon, but in a pinch and if he closed his eyes or what not before they went up into the air and didn't look down was quite alright with himself. Still customs were customs as he bowed low enough for his beard to barely touch the smoothened earth he said as close as he could without breaking it up he welcomed the dragon to their halls. Da'nan dragon Shamara to the halls of the Darvin for they are not as always grand as you and yet they are welcome to you grand one! Even though he knew he was putting his welcome a little too thick still it was always a grand sight to see the dragon there because not only were they of highest esteem as well their tunnels traveled into one of their realms.
Standing up he saw Az again and smiled knowing taht he would have some sarcastic remark from his friend about something of them or possibly of how thick he laid his royal welcome to the dragon still he clapped his hands as to signal to the horn to blow and the drums to beat for their arrival. "I'm glad you came as you did Azzie and Shamara for its getting close to one of our, well you remember the elaborate meals us dwarves always put on. However I think first you'd like to wipe the dirt of the trail off before eating such am I correct?" Standing there he started to thumb the edge of his axe as in more of something to do then being nervous because he did have things to do because he was an heir, but it didn't mean he had it to sit right with him. He was one who liked the surface at times and to have an adventure of his own as it had been awhile since he had to do such orders and yet he hadn't taken the time to go to the surface out of the caves because of possibility that something like this to happen sooner or later.

"Well you certainly know flattery," Shamara said with a giggle. "I am honored by your welcome Oak of Demadril."
"A festival! Really, I am just in time for that huh? Which one? I know its not the winter yule cause that's long past....no that's already passed to. No its a different one....let me guess, let me guess......oh I know.....it's magical new year! No I wasn't coming her at all for that. Nope, nope, nope.....not at all. I came all this way just to see Oak and then leave."
He chuckled teasingly at the dwarf. Of course, that was the greatest of reason to be going to visit the dwarf. Oak had told him about the parties the dwarves could hold in their halls, so the other part of coming was to see this fantastic festival done dwarven style. Sure elves could pull off a mean festival of magic, but It was nothing like what the dwarves did. That and the elven festivals were something he had seen since the day he was born. Something new was different to see.
"Yes yes, before we get all excited about fun, Shamara and I will need to freshen up and get some rest." he stated mildly. "Then we shall see about dining in the royal hall together with your family this eve. How does that sound my friend."
"So long as there's draken berry ale I'm in." Shamara stated with a grin and a wag of her tail.

He heard of what Shamara had said about the draken berries as he chuckled at the thing and nodded in respone to Azlynn's guess about it being the magical new year as it wasn't completely however it was coming closer to it as he was in fact working on a piece in which would be presented and added to the other things of celebrating not being of magic or such however by his own hand.
"Well its leading up to it ever sooner by the hour as it is yet nye upon us, however yes indeed I shall let you go in haste to do that will you need an escort or do you think you remember of where everything is? Still standing there and knowing that his pet and friend was out searching for something to fill his own hunger for he did like the scraps and taht from the feasts. Although he had more interest in the hunt of the thing than the actual meat in itself.
As the halls were with their decorationsfrom just something to spruce up that portion of it or as big and obnoxious as well to set the portion of the hall or room alight. Where he knew that his parents were being preoccupied by being your usual politicians and that as his siblings were doing their parts to help the celebration go farther and better because that is how their festivals always was everyone helped put their best foot forward and show off in having to compete against the other clans as well as to reveal to any visitor of what the dwarfs had to offer even though small they made great creations.

"You know...." he stated with a grin. "I can't quite remember where EVERYTHING is ....it must of all slipped my elvish mind somehow...."
That wasn't really true. Elves were keen on remembering things, most especially places. However, what he was up for was a bit of quality time to walk and talk with his friend. It had been so long since he had seen Olrich. Yet at the same time it hadn't really been all that long in the grand scheme of things. In terms of elf and dwarf it was only like a day or a week in ism for dwarves and elves lived so long as was. Still smirking at his short, but humorous friend, he put a hand on his shoulder and chuckled.
"I think a hospitible guide would be quite welcome to our quarters, don't you think Shamara...." he commented.
"Oh most indeed. Especially if it's from a noble notable person such as Olrich, prince of the Under." Shamara said with a sharp toothed grin.
"Then its settled." Azlynn stated. "You can help, lead us to our quarters."
He was the utmost sarcastic about the actual leading, but he really did want Olrich to walk and talk with him. It would be good to have some one on one time with the dwarf. Turning them both to go down deeper into the tunnels Azlynn looked back at Shamara with a smile and started them on there way down, down deep into the dwarvish city of Demadril.

As his brown eyes crinkled at the corners with a wide grin he shook his head in amusement with his dear ol' friend and his bonded mate. He knew that Azzlynn would always be one to want company especially his own company even if he had responsibilities in which to do and to supervise certain things taht are to be done perfectly as he looked up to the ceiling of the tunnel in concentration of thinking of things. For sure he was the true heir to his fathers' reign and yet he thought he wasn't truely ready for it as well as it being able to be held by another in his stead it could be done as well, for he wanted to get experience upon the surface before taking his rightful position at the head of his own clan.
Now knowing that others of the magical community would also be there in visiting as well as partakeing of the darvin ways during the festival he knew he could intentionally give the order of supervision and that to one of his younger siblings because everything the dwarves did was with their best foot forward. With thinking these things over within his own nogin he wondered of whom to give this grandious of tasks to and he thought of his brother who was below him and came back to see his friend still awaiting his answer to his request.
"Hmmm....I think I'll be able to slip away for a bit however give me a moment to talk to someone to take over my responsibilites for the mere moment and then we can be on our way!" As he said with taht same grin for he knew his brother would argue about taking his place for the mere moment even if it was somehting so easily as keeping watch over his pet. Still Ollrich was always able to get him turned around to his side one way or another. With a little of a wink he went over to a mirror in a crevace which was one of his secret places in which to do conversation with someone and knew taht Taron had is own way of speaking upon him if anyone would will of his presence or want council or any other reason. Ollrich looked into it and recited the ancient language of power which his race knew of as did all races who knew that of magic and its properties.
It only took a minor second for to catch his brother who was only a little younger than himself and was amidst that of his forge making his own gift for the festival as well as supervising others and making things for the festival as well. He wasn't quite appreciative of his eldest brother contacting him in the midst of all the things they had to do however he still was like Ollrich and able to be civil behind a mask of other emotions as he greeted him as well as the other returning the greeting in kind. "Hello Taron I see you are in great labor of your own kind with taht mighty forge of yours and I hope all is going well with you?
""Hello Ollrich I see you are not engaging the oldest of our traditions in doing some great labor of thine own brother, I am suspecting that there is something yet you wish to get off your chest and into my hands so out with it Ollrich! It was quite odd that Taron knew that he wanted to give him a task to add to his own list and he thought if he couldn't do it he could have one who is under his rule so to speak to take it upon themselves still he was nawwing at it for a little while until he finally spat it out for it was what his younger brother wanted. "Quite indeed younger brother I do have something of which I need to give to you however you have my blessing to give to one who you deem worthy of the cause, for if you have noticed by the blare of the horn that there is a visitor here who needs my attention and so I shall retun to my duties once done, but for now could you or one who is deemed fit to do so supervise and do of what duties I have of to do and Ishall return soonly! As he awaited to see what action his brother would do and whom he would choose for he was alike to that of the humans and naturally curious, it didn't take as long as he thought although as his brother rolled his darkened black orbs in annoyance and yet he answered as if there was nothing to anything. "Hmmm....I believe I ahve someone whom to chose of to take upon your tasks oh great sage and ultimate slacker and since you gave me leave to chose for myself and not for thee than I don't think you're prevy to who takes it upon themselves. However I will give you one promise that whoever it is will be someone who'll be able to accomplish your duties until you arrive!" and with that his brother vanished without giving one eyeota of who it would be however he was satisfied seeing that his brother didn't need to be poked or prodded into doing something for him this time which meant either he was going to do some practical joke or put someone in charge who will make him seem like some kind of slacker as he rolled his eyes like that of his brother he reappeared by Azzie's side as well as his pet who had seemed to arrive from out of nowhere being a good size off the ground and yet still attached to the ground which was good enough for him and so he threw himself upon the back of Raekyn'par with his favorite axe "Kazar" still attached to his belt and he loked to that of Azzie seeing of what he would do next and if he would just follow him like always or make some wisecrack about him doing what he had done still he awaited to go forth into the tunnels on his steed and friend as well as the others to the place of which they would stay and of which they could find a good place to wash up. However he still was amazed and slightly appauled that Azzlynn had done in order to have some friendly company and able to catch up from their previous visit with one another.

Azlynn had joined over with Shamara as he waited for Olrich to finish. He stroked his dragons flank while waiting. This made Shamara thrum with approval. She chuckled, hearing the conversation between the two dwarves. She would never understand the Darvin culture. She looked down at her rider and nuzzled him before looking back at the dwarf. She couldn't wait for some rest and then the food to come afterwards. From her time there before she knew that the food was severely good.
"Sounds like your brothers in a mood." Azlynn said with a chuckle joining Olrich in walking. "I see things have clearly not changed around here my friend."
He kept stride with the dwarf. It wasn't hat hard to either. Elves were known for there long and wide strides. If anyone had anything to worry about it was someone not elven keeping up with an elf. Especially Azlynn, he was known for his high pace step. It was more like a run rather than a walk some days. He looked at his short friend with a cheesy smile. This was going to be an interesting visit if there was ever one.
"Aren't some always like that." Shamara teased her tail swaying as she followed behind the two of them. Her body was too big to walk astride them.
"Haha," Azlynn laughed. "One would have to wonder wouldn't they. So Olrich how have things fair for the fine city of Demadril? Any new tunnels to the great city?"

As he sat astride the wolven partner and started moving forward he heard of what Shamara and Azlynn was picking up on for it seemed yet again his hypersensitive ears had picked up his interesting conversation with his brother and one who enjoyed that of the work of his own hands. Only slightly shrugging his shoulders as they elevated and depressed he looked at them with a blankened look as if he didn't know if his brother was in a mood and yet he did know for it was a bit of a thing he and the elf did with one another from time to time. Still as they went farther into the depths of Demidril he seemed to perk up and to actually answer in kind amusement. "Yeah, either he's in a mood or just sn't too interested in doing a great favor for me, however it is customary as always for the oldest to welcome all guests in warmth and making them seem welcomed to this place!" with that brilliant smile of his he looked forward to the darkness.
They hadn't moved farther into the main tunnel until he spoke again it being at least a hundred yards give or take when he went through his mind and recollection of if there was in fact anything new or different of this great city of theirs. Biting his lower lip in concentration and thinking as they traveledhe finally did speak up with happiness clearly in his voice he said something in dwarven which could've been easily decievered as he mumbled "D'rok van'karnl clavt!" It was definitely nothing good for it was a curse in his native tongue as he resorted back to that of the natural speech. " Well there are a few differences as of late, but nothing to big as to take note of. If I remember there is a new stretch of tunnel towards the most eastern portion and erm...profits are a little higher than usual!" Things were going interesting as they past some of the decorations as well as the interesting mixture of smells and everything else taht was going on.

"Ah yes, yes of course. Always at the stone." Azlynn stated with a chuckle. "All work and no play makes Oak a dull darvin man."
He walked a bit further along with the short man. His long blond hair flowed in a small self made breeze. His cloak gently waved about him like silk. Shamara was still behind them, her birth to wide to walk astride. She tilt her head at the mention of new tunnels. New tunnels meant new gems. New gems meant not only rare items, but also dragon fuel. A dragon could easily chew on a stone, break it apart with their teeth, swallow it, and let there acidic digestive systems do the rest of the work. The magic gathered from the gems would collect in their gullet to be used for later. It was like adding an extra boost to there already natural magic they possessed. Perhaps Azlynn would see about getting one of these lovely new gem stones for her. The mere idea made her tail swish with hopefulness.
As she was thinking about that, Azlynn was admiring the dwarven architecture of the tunnel they were walking in. However, that did not last long as they entered the main entrance to the city. As always it was a wonder to see a dwarven city so active. Instead of a bunch of stairs everywhere though, there were more ramps and paths. As much as there was housing on the ground, there was also housing and that on the ceiling inside of sturdy pillars of rock, some just dangling from the ceiling while others went from ceiling to floor. Azlynn remember how the last time they were there they stayed in a room along one of the walls seeing as their were pockets of housing there too. The view was always so nice from so high, but then it was because he was a dragon rider. Granted not all dwarves were afraid of heights, so long as they had feet on the ground, but others were terrified of heights. However, his friend was not one of those types. Oak was a true warrior at heart, brave until the very last breath.
"Mmm, a sight that is always impressive to see." he commented. "It still brings awe and wonder even if it is my second time here."
"Indeed, I agree Azlynn." Shamara mused with a purr growl.

As they traveled going through the main passageways and all that with the lanterns ablaze in the darkness bringing light to them as it seemed like day to that entire city. For it was their way of knowing of when it was day and night as it where, he looked to his frienBurlybrown]"Yes, yesindeed my friend! If one was to work the entire day away there would be no time for to relax and give into hobbies which make you feel like your infused with glad tidings as well as bright enthusiasm, as well in giving a metaphysical weight off of your own shoulders."[/color]
Continuing and knowing that the way to the floor in which was reserved for his friends' status and grandure for it was a great length which was easily walked by the dwarves who lived and breathed in this town and those who visited frequently. There was of course less activity here unless it was that of others who weren't of dwarven kind. Which only got busy around the times of which was in celebration of something. It was however quite interesting that Shamara was in wanting a gem which he knew her kind would for most liked treasured and rarest of items and in noticing it with the swishing of air from her tail as well as his friends' who mostly stayed still except for the rarest of times.
As for Azlynn he was one who when he could find the time visited as well in one of the most highest of rooms because not only was he a dragon rider, but he was a close friend to Oolrich and a visiting royal official. He wondered of what his friend would be wanting to do while visiting for sure the magical new year was approaching and yet there was other things before the actual night at least a couple nights from this one.
